The Story So Far:
Emma is currently a second year University student based in Wellington. Emma moved from Auckland to be coached by Eddie and to join Team CycloSport. Taking up cycling in 2004, Emma quickly established herself as a talented rider with a great climbing ability. She quickly asserted herself as one of the more promising riders achieving success in her first year of competition. Emma was selected to represent New Zealand at both Junior and senior level, gaining a bronze medal at the 2008 Oceania Road Cycling Championships. Over the past twelve months Emma has developed her undoubted skills to a new level. Emma is a confident and successful rider in all disciplines whilst excelling in the mountains.
Emma is a key member of the successful Team CycloSport, joining a group of talented individuals that are fast developing into the next crop of highly talented elite New Zealand representatives.
A recent laboratory VO2 Max test indicated that Emma has one of the highest VO2 of any female rider tested in recent history in NZ. This is another endorsement of the strong indicators of her undoubted potential.
Emma spent four months racing in Holland in 2009 and experiencing the hustle and bustle of European racing and the delight of racing over cobbles. She will return in the Northern summer for another season racing in Holland.

Coach/directeur sportif: Eddie Bright:
Since first meeting Emma whilst coaching the National Under 19 Women's Team in Australia, I was impressed with her commitment, work ethic and willingness to work for the team in addition to her cycling prowess.
Emma moved to Wellington to continue the coaching relationship and quickly established herself as a key team rider.
Emma has already displayed strong cycling awareness and ability to succeed at the highest level in road cycling. Selection for the Oceania Championships in Australia earlier this year was national recognition of this ability. Emma move into the Elite Women's grade in 2008 and was immediately successful when she won a bronze medal at the 2008 Oceania Championships and followed this up with a 5th place at her first Elite National Championships.
A long term plan has been developed to facilitate her cycling through a career as a professional road cyclist whilst gaining international selection to Commonwealth Games, World Championship and Olympic selection.
Emma is currently racing in Europe, based in Holland with a Dutch Club.
